MSNBC Analyst: DeSantis "Authoritarian" for Proposing School Cell Phone Ban

During a recent press conference, Governor Ron DeSantis suggested that cell phones should be banned from school classrooms so that students can focus on the teacher and the lesson being taught.

“Why are these kids on their phones during class all the time?” he asked. He suggested that kids should “leave their phone in some cubby or something, go sit in class and learn” and that the phones could be given back during break times or at the end of the day.

“They should not be on their phones being distracted from the lessons,” he added.

MSNBC analyst an NYU professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat took issue with this idea, claiming it just proves the governor has an "authoritarian personality."

Ben-Ghiat responded to that tweet saying the governor is "so dangerous in every way" and that his personality is "truly authoritarian."

Do you agree with the governor? Should cell phones be banned in the classroom?
