'Woke' MLK Statue 'Looks Like a Penis', Says Coretta Scott King's Cousin

A new statue honoring the late Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King has people, including a member of the family, talking.

"The Embrace" is an artistic interpretation of the iconic photo of the couple hugging after he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, but some believe it looks more like a phallic symbol.

Seneca Scott, a cousin of Coretta Scott King, told the NY Post that even a little boy pointed out that the $10 million statue looks like a penis.

“The mainstream media… was reporting on it like it was all beautiful, ’cause they were told they had to say that,” he said. “But then when it came out, a little boy pointed out — ‘That’s a penis!’ and everyone was like, ‘Yo, that’s a big old dong, man.’”

He continued, “If you had showed that statute to anyone in the ’hood, they’d have been like, ‘No, absolutely not.’ “

Many have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts about the statue.
