Doctors say this new 'health" trend on TikTok is one of the "most dangerous" social media practices that have rolled out thus far.
Mouth-taping has gone viral lately, showing people placing a piece of tape over their lips in hopes they'll achieve a more restful night of sleep. Doctors warn everyone NOT TO DO THIS.
"This is one of the most dangerous trends I've heard of in some time, and I'm quite concerned that it is being advocated as a 'health' trend," Dr. David Culpepper, a Lexington, Kentucky-based general practitioner, told Fox News Digital. "To put it quite simply, intentionally obstructing your airways during sleep is a terrible idea."
Popular health and wellness influencers like Cory Rodriguez (@HealthWithCory), who has more than 375,000 followers, have posted videos of themselves online highlighting the trend, saying they cover their mouths with tape before going to bed at night.
Some users support the trend, while others commented things like, "It also helps with dying."
In another video posted by @MoveWithJames , he claims that the more he breathes through his nose at night, the better sleep he gets.
