As of Monday, 'Operation Slow Down' is officially underway, so if there's ever a time to not speed on Tampa roadways, it's now!
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in collaboration with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and local law enforcement agencies, is teaming up for this operation to help prevent reckless driving and save lives.
'Operation Slow Down' kicked off on Monday and will last until Saturday, July 23rd.
Since the start of 2022, 371 fatal crashes in the Tampa Bay area have killed 400 people and injured 286.
You will see State Troopers and local officers conducting this enforcement on interstates and highways throughout the state.
