St. Pete Pride, Carnivals, Concerts & More Happening in Tampa This Weekend

On top of the three huge pride events happening in the Tampa Bay area this weekend, there are concerts and other fun festivals for you to enjoy as well. Thanks to Sharon Wynne of Tampa Bay Times for helping us put together this great list of weekend events.

PRIDE EVENTS

  • St. Pete Pride Weekend - After two years off, St. Pete Pride is BACK! They say this will be their biggest celebration ever, with over 260,000 people expected to attend. The parade will begin at 2 pm and is estimated to last about 4 hours. There will be celebrations happening throughout the city before and after the parade. DJs, bars, food, and more will be available. St. Pete Pier will have a large screen on the lawn so people can sit and watch the parade from there.
  • Pride Concerts - Russian punk band Pussy Riot will play a pre-parade concert on Friday with Todrick Hall of "American Idol" and "Masked Singer" fame.
  • Pride Carnival - On Sunday, to wrap up the weekend's events, there will be a street fair & carnival in St. Pete's Grand Central District. From 22nd to 31st streets, Central Avenue will have roaming street performers and interactive carnival games. Costumes are encouraged to create a Brazilian-style street carnival atmosphere.

CONCERTS/SHOWS

  • LeAnn Rimes: The Grammy-winning ("How Do I Live") singer-songwriter's new tour looks at her 25-year career and showcases some of her new music on Friday, June 24th at Mahaffey Theater.
  • Train: Known for their chart-topping hits spanning nearly three decades, They will be joined by Jewel and Blues Traveler on Saturday, June 25th at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre
  • Jamie Lissow: Actor-comedian Jamie Lissow, whose work includes "Real Rob" on Netflix with SNL alum Rob Schneider and an appearance on "Last Comic Standing" and his half-hour Comedy Central special, performs at Tampa Improv throughout the weekend. Showtimes vary.

KIDS & FAMILY EVENTS

  • Watermelon Weekend: Bring your bathing suit and cool down at this pet-friendly festival with a watermelon U-pick, wine and cider release, watermelon activities, crafts, food vendors, and inflatable water slides for all ages. No cover. 10 am-6 pm on Saturday & Sunday at Keel Farms in Plant City.
  • Summer Celebration Celebrity Talent Showcase: Busch Gardens' Pantopia Theater sets the scene for an all-new talent show that features top performers from NBC's "America's Got Talent." This week includes Chicago Boyz (Season 8 acrobatic team), Smoothini (Season 9 magician), iLuminate (Season 6 lighted dance team) and Charles Peachock (Season 6 juggler). Shows are Wednesday - Sunday through July 10. Included with park admission.
  • Summer Glow: Spend your day at the beach and still have time to spend with rescued animals at the aquarium. Clearwater Marine Aquarium extends its hours to 8 pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through July 30. Activities include steel drum music, live entertainment, animal interaction and free boat tours. Included with admission. 4–8 pm Thursday - Saturday June 23-25.
