What an experience! On Sunday morning, I took on the Skyway 10K. Running 6.2 miles over the Skyway Bridge to help raise money for the Armed Forces Families Foundation.
Although the race was a challenge, the reward was more than worth it. Standing on top of the Skyway was a very incredible experience. If you've ever considered doing this, DO IT! I don't run... like ever. This was more about the experience, and I couldn't be more thrilled that I pushed myself to do this.

However, about 15 minutes before crossing the finish line, my friends and I saw several State Troopers speeding over to the other side of the bridge.
It wasn't until late in the day that I learned that a drunk driver had driven through barricades, cones, and even past state troopers blocking the toll plaza. The driver, who was charged with a DUI, was heading straight towards the thousands of runners on the bridge.
To help protect the lives of many runners, Florida Highway Patrol troopers put their lives at risk, with one heroic female trooper putting her car right in the path of the drunk driver and was hit nearly head-on. Both the driver of the vehicle and the state trooper were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Learn more HERE
