Strawberry Shortcake Now One Step Closer to Becoming Florida State Dessert

This is undoubtedly the sweetest bill in the legislative session. The legislation aims to knock out Key Lime Pie as Florida's state dessert and replace it with Strawberry Shortcake.

UPDATE January 24, 2022

On Thursday, Florida's official dessert became one step closer to becoming Strawberry Shortcake when the bill cruised smoothly through its final Senate committee with nary a jam, says Jesse Scheckner of Florida Politics.

The Senate Rules Committee unanimously approved SB 1006, establishing strawberry shortcake as the state's primo post-dinner delicacy. The bill previously cleared the Senate Agriculture Committee with identical support.
