Authorities have identified a man suspected of fatally shooting two firefighters in an ambush on Idaho's Canfield Mountain. The suspect, 20-year-old Wess Roley, was found dead on Sunday evening (June 29), bringing an end to what officials describe as a sniper attack on fire personnel and police.

The incident began when firefighters responded to a brush fire on Canfield Mountain. As they worked to contain the blaze, the suspect reportedly opened fire, killing two firefighters. Police officers arriving at the scene were also targeted in the attack.

The suspect's body was discovered later that evening, and authorities believe he died by suicide. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with officials working to understand the motive behind the attack and whether the suspect acted alone.

The wildfire, which officials believe was intentionally started to lure firefighters to the area, has since grown to 26 acres as of Monday morning.

The tragic event has left the local community in shock, with many mourning the loss of the brave firefighters who were killed in the line of duty. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
