Hurricane & Storm Surge Watch Issued for South Florida and the Keys

Tropical Storm Eta at 4p

Hurricane and storm surge watches have been issued for all of South Florida and the Keys as Tropical Storm Eta continues to gain strength as it moves out of the Cayman Islands and heads towards Cuba.

The center of Eta is expected to approach the Florida Keys or South Florida late Sunday.

As of 4p, Tropical Storm Eta was centered 195 miles west-southwest of Cuba. It is moving at 16 mph and has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for the coast of southern Florida from Golden Beach to Bonita Beach, including Biscayne Bay, and for the Florida Keys from Ocean Reef to the Dry Tortugas, incuding Florida Bay.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the coast of southern Florida from Deerfield Beach to Bonita Beach, and for the Florida Keys from Ocean Reef to the Dry Tortugas, including Florida Bay.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from north of Golden Beach to Jupiter Inlet, Florida, and west of Chokoloskee, Florida to Bonita Beach, Florida, including Lake Okeechobee.
