In addition to filling up your tank, there are other things you should think about when it comes to your vehicle ahead of the storm.
"When we think about car safety, and you think about a storm, certainly wiper blades come into play because there's nothing worse than driving through torrential downpours and you can't see."
Bill Shull, Divisional Vice President of Tire Kingdom, says drivers should be sure their tires are in good shape whether they're evacuating or not.
"If they've got a tire pressure gauge, they certainly should be checking their tire pressure."
He says that will be important if you plan to evacuate, but the condition of your tires is also key if you're staying in town.
That's because after the storm, you'll be driving on wet roadways...
"And if you have bald tires, certainly it's not safe."
If you don't have a tire depth gauge, Shull says there's an easy way you can check.
"Most folks have a penny in their pocket and there's an old test about being able to check the tread depth on your tires by using a penny."
You insert the penny into your tire's tread groove with Lincoln's head upside down, and if you can see all of his head, it's time to replace your tires.
He says Tire Kingdom is offering free comprehensive tire care checks and vehicle inspections up until the point where it's no longer safe to be open.
