Rays Fall To Blue Jays Again

The Toronto Blue Jays (89-62) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (73-78) 6-5 on Tuesday night at Steinbrenner Field for their second win over Tampa Bay in as many nights. It was the third straight loss for the Rays.

The Blue Jays built a lead of 4-0 before the Rays got a three-run homer from Brandon Lowe in the bottom of the third to pull within 4-3. Toronto answered with a single run in the fourth and fifth to make it 6-3. The Rays got single runs of their own in the eighth and ninth to pull within 6-5, but that would be as close as they would get.

Ryan Pepiot (1-2, 3.77) got only five outs as the starter in this game, allowing four earned runs on four hits while striking out three and walking three in an inning and two-thirds of work.

The Rays will look to snap their skid in the third game of the series against the Blue Jays coming up on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Steinbrenner Field - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
