The Tampa Bay Rays (15-18) defeated the New York Yankees (19-14) 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. With the win, the Rays have snapped their losing skid at four games.
The Rays rallied from down 2-1 in the eighth inning, taking advantage of a RBI single from Curtis Mead and a fielding error from Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe to take a 3-2 lead, which would prove to be the final score.
Zack Littell (2-5, 4.61) got the start and allowed two earned runs on three hits while striking out three and walking none. Pete Fairbanks earned his seventh save of the year by working a perfect ninth inning.
The Rays now will look to win the series against the Yankees coming up on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:35 - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
