The New York Yankees (19-13) shut out the Tampa Bay Rays (14-18) 3-0 on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. For the Rays, it was their fourth straight loss.
The Yankees got all the offense they would need on one swing, when Paul Goldschmidt hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. Ryan Pepiot (2-4, 4.23) took the loss after being pulled in the fifth inning with two on, moments before Goldschmidt's homer gave the Yankees the lead.
The Rays now look to snap their skid and even the three-game series against the Yankees coming up on Saturday afternoon. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 1:05 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 12:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
