Royals Complete Sweep of Rays

The Kansas City Royals (17-15) beat the Tampa Bay Rays (14-17) 8-2 on Thursday afternoon at Steinbrenner Field. With the win, the Royals swept the three-game series from the Rays.

The Royals were able to get to Rays starter Shane Baz (3-1, 3.86) for seven earned runs on nine hits in five and two-third innings of work. For Kansas City, their starter Seth Lugo (3-3, 3.07) for two earned runs on five hits in his six innings of work.

The Rays look to bounce back from their three-game skid when they go on the road to New York to face the Yankees for a three-game divisional series this weekend. Ryan Pepiot (2-3, 4.24) is scheduled to start the opener on Friday for the Rays, and face Max Fried (5-0, 1.19) for New York. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:05 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620 your Home of Rays Baseball.
