Blue Jays Get Four In Eighth To Even Series With Rays

The Toronto Blue Jays (46-55) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (51-51) 6-3 on Wednesday night at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Rays are now back at .500 for the 24th time this season.

Zach Eflin had a nice start for the Rays, allowing two earned runs on six hits in five and two-third innings while striking out four and walking none - Vladimir Guerrero Jr accounted for both runs off Eflin, with a RBI single in the first and a solo homer in the third.

The Rays rallied to tie it thanks to a RBI single from Josh Lowe in the fifth and another RBI single from Randy Arozarena in the sixth. The score would be tied 2-2 going into the eighth inning, when Jason Adam came to the mound.

Toronto got to Adam (4-2, 2.54) for four runs - two of them earned - on two hits while striking out one and walking two in the eighth inning. That would be enough for the Blue Jays to even the series at a game apiece.

The Rays and Blue Jays now meet in the rubber game of the three-game series coming up on Thursday afternoon. Taj Bradley (5-4, 2.63) is scheduled to start fo the Rays, and face Chris Bassitt (8-8, 3.71) for Toronto. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 3:07 PM - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at 2:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
