White Sox Beat Rays To Salvage Finale

The Chicago White Sox (9-28) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (19-19) 4-1 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. The win prevented the Rays from pulling off a sweep over Chicago, and the Rays finished the season series 2-4 against Chicago after the White Sox swept Tampa Bay in Chicago the weekend of April 27.

Isaac Paredes drove in the Rays only run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead. From there, Chicago got two in the fifth and two in the sixth to turn the game around en route to a 4-1 win. In the fifth it was a two-run homer from Paul DeJong after starter Aaron Civale that burnt Tampa Bay. In the sixth, Chicago got RBI hits from Bryan Ramo and Tommy Pham to add some seperation.

Aaron Civale (2-3, 5.88) got the start and allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out four and walking two. Kevin Kelly allowed two more runs on five hits in his inning and a third out of the bullpen. From there Edwin Uceta and Manuel Rodrgiez pitched three scoreless innings to close out the game for the Rays bullpen.

The Rays remain at home and are off on Thursday before beginning a three-game series with the Yankees on Friday night. Taj Bradley is expected to make his season debut for the Rays on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
