White Sox Sweep Rays

The Chicago White Sox (6-22) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (13-16) 402 on Sunday afternoon to sweep Tampa Bay. It was the first time the Rays had been swept in a regular season since July 17-19, 2023 when they were swept by the Rangers in Texas.

Zack Littell (1-2, 3.27) gave the Rays a quality start, allowing two earned runs on eight hits in six innings of work in which he struck out six and walked none. He was out-dueled by Erick Fedde (2-0, 2.60), who allowed just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out nine and walking none in eight and one-third innings of work.

Isaac Paredes hit a homer for the Rays in the fourth inning, but Chicago answered in their half of the fourth with RBI singles from Robbie Grossman and Danny Mendick. Andrew Benintendi, who burned the Rays for two homers on Saturday night, had a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth of this one for some much needed insurance. Harold Ramirez drove in a run in the top of the ninth to make it 4-2 but that was as close as the Rays would get.

The Rays now travel to Milwaukee and look to bounce back with a three-game series against the Brewers on Monday night. First pitch on Monday is scheduled for 7:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
