Rays Take Four Game Series From Red Sox

The Tampa Bay Rays (43-19) defeated the Boston Red Sox (30-30) 4-1 on Monday evening at Fenway Park. The win gives the Rays three wins in the four game series against the Red Sox played over three days.

Shane McClanahan (9-1, 2.02) set the pace, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out five and walking two in six innings of work. Jason Adam picked up his ninth save by pitching a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning.

The Rays got all the offense they would need with a three-run frame in the fifth inning. Manuel Margot, Francisco Mejia and Josh Lowe all came up with RBIs in that frame. After Justin Turner homered for the Red Sox in the bottom of the sixth, Taylor Walls took a bases loaded walk in the top of the seventh to get the three-run lead right back.

The Rays now return home for a six-game homestand that begins with a three-game series against the Twins on Tuesday night. First pitch on Monday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
