Rays Beat Marlins For Two Game Sweep

The Tampa Bay Rays (26-17) defeated the Miami Marlins (18-24) 5-4 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

The Rays took control of this game in the first inning, getting RBI doubles from Wander Franco and Randy Arozarena before Harold Ramirez hit a two-run homer to give Tampa Bay a 5-0 lead.

The Marlins clawed back with three runs in the fourth, and scored again in the ninth, but were not able to catch the Rays as 5-4 would be the final score.

Drew Rasmussen (5-1, 2.68) pitched five innings in which he allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking two. Colin Poche picked up his first save of the season in the win.

The Rays now prepare for a pivotal four game series with the Yankees which begins on Thursday night. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 530 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
