According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Tampa Bay Rays are on the verge of signing 20-year old superstar Wander Franco to a multi-year extension worth in the range of 200 million dollars.

If confirmed, this would be the richest contract in the history of Major League Baseball for a player with under a full year of series in MLB. The current record contract for a player with less than one full year of service time is Ronald Acuña Jr.'s eight-year, $100 million contract with the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves. The 20-year-old Franco hit .288/.347/.463 with seven home runs in 70 games as rookie in 2021.
