Rays Complete Sweep of Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays (42-24) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (22-42) 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win gives the Rays a three-game sweep over the Orioles and the Rays finish a five game homestand with a 4-1 mark.

The Orioles took an early lead when Pat Valaika drove in a run in the second inning. The Rays began to answer in the third, when Yandy Diaz got a RBI hit to tie the game. In the fourth inning Taylor Walls drove in two to break the tie - then the Rays pulled away in the seventh inning when Randy Arozarena came up with a grand slam to make it 7-1.

Michael Wacha allowed one earned run on two hits in two innings of work while striking out none and walking one. Josh Fleming (6-4, 3.20) got the win out of the bullpen with four innings of shutout baseball in which he struck out three and walking one.

The Rays now head to Chicago for a three game series which begins Monday night. First pitch Monday night is scheduled for 8:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 7 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
