Nationals Knock Off Rays In 11

The Washington Nationals (25-33) fell to the Tampa Bay Rays (39-24) 9-7 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field.

A back and forth game through nine innings, the game would be tied 5-5 going into the tenth. Washington got two runs in the top of the tenth, but Tampa Bay answered with two in the bottom of the tenth to force an eleventh inning tied 7-7. Washington got two more runs in the eleventh, with RBIs from Starlin Castro and Josh Harrison, that would prove to be enough to lift the Nationals to a 9-7 win.

The Rays got homers from Taylor Walls, his first in the big leagues, as well as Joey Wendle off the bench. Wendle finished the game 2-for-2 with two runs driven in.

Tampa Bay is now off on Thursday before hosting the Orioles for a three game series that begins on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
