Rays Shut Out Rangers To Even Series

The Tampa Bay Rays (37-23) shut out the Texas Rangers (23-37) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, Texas. The win evens the three game series at a game apiece.

Rich Hill (5-2, 3.05) continued his impressive stretch, pitching five shutout innings in which he allowed only two hits while striking out three and walking one - and only needed 59 pitches to get through the five innings. Diego Castillo picked up his ninth save of the season for the Rays to clinch the victory.

Austin Meadows drove in two in the top of fhe first inning with a 2-RBI single. That appeared to be enough offense for the day, but Manuel Margot added some insurance with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning.

The Rays and Rangers now meet in the rubber game of the three game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 2:35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz and This Week In Rays Baseball at 1 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
