Rays Drop Series To Rangers WIth Extra Innings Loss Thursady

The Texas Rangers (6-7) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (5-8) 6-4 in ten innings on Thursday night.

The Rays scored the first three runs thanks to an RBI single from Austin Meadows and a two-run blast from Mike Brosseau - trailing 4-3 in the seventh inning, Brett Phillips scored on a Rangers error to tie the game. In extra innings, Adolis Garcia would be the hero for the Rangers, hitting a two-run bomb in the top of the tenth. In the bottom of the frame, Tampa Bay was not able to get anything going and Texas held on to take three of four from the Rays.

Rich Hill got the start for Tampa Bay, allowing four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits in four and one third innings. Cody Reed took the loss after giving up the homer to Garcia in the bottom of the tenth.

The Rays now head to New York where they'll meet the Yankees for a three-game series beginning on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
