A solo home run was all the Tampa Bay Rays needed on opening day in 2021 as the Tampa Bay Rays defeted the Miami Marlins 1-0 in Miami, FL on Thursday. Meadows solo home run came in the eighth inning off reliever Yimi Garcia as the only run in the game supported a fantastic outing by Tyler Glasnow for Tampa Bay as the Rays' ace went six innings allowing just a single hit and striking out six batters.
Sandy Alcantara pitched well for Miami in his season debut as he also pitched six innings allowing two hits and striking out seven Rays batters.
The Rays will face off with the Marlins on Friday night as Ryan Yarbrough will take on Pablo Lopez for Miami. Coverage begins at 6pm on WDAE and streaming across Tampa Bay on IHeartRadio.
