Morton Leaves Sunday's Game With Shoulder Injury

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Charlie Morton left Sunday's game with the New York Yankees after two-plus innings with an apparent injury.

Manager Kevin Cash and head trainer Joe Benge came out to the mound after Morton walked Aaron Hicks to lead off the top of the third inning, and after a short conversation, the decision was made to replace Morton with Trevor Richards.

Morton worked through a tough first inning, loading the bases and allowing a run when he hit Mike Ford with a pitch.

UPDATE 2:40 pm: The Rays say Morton was removed from the game with right shoulder inflammation.

We'll continue to update this post as more information becomes available.
