Rays Decline To Tender Heredia

ST. PETERSBURG (WDAE) -- One player that helped the Rays into the postseason in 2019 will not be back in 2020.

Tampa Bay announced Monday that outfielder Guillermo Heredia was not tendered a contract by team, and will become a free agent.

The 28-year-old played in 89 games with the Rays in 2019, hitting .225/.306/.363 with five home runs and 20 RBI. He was acquired by Tampa Bay from the Seattle Mariners November 8, 2018 from the Seattle Mariners in the deal that also brought catcher Mike Zunino to the Rays.
