Country music star Jelly Roll has found himself banned from a swath of the Sunshine State after serving as a guest host on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week.
During his opening monologue, Jelly Roll—who has famously shed over 300 pounds in recent years—took aim at President Donald Trump's recent physical exam. Citing reports that the President had gained 14 pounds to reach nearly 240, the singer joked that his own massive weight loss was equivalent to losing "an entire Donald Trump."
The late-night comedy set did not sit well with U.S. Representative Jimmy Patronis (R-Fla.), who represents Florida's 1st Congressional District in the Western Panhandle. Patronis, a staunch Trump ally who won a special election to replace Matt Gaetz in 2025, quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare the singer exiled from his district.
Jelly Roll addressed the sudden political backlash on the very next night's program, leaning into the humor rather than backing away from the material.
While Jelly Roll has historically kept his personal political affiliations quiet, he is no stranger to Capitol Hill. Last year, the musician made waves after delivering emotional testimony before Congress, pleading with lawmakers to pass stricter regulations to combat the ongoing fentanyl crisis.
The geographic ban has already turned into a local campaign issue. Democrat Gay Valimont, who is running against Patronis in the upcoming November election, publicly broke ranks with the incumbent by officially inviting Jelly Roll to visit the Panhandle.
