Fort Lauderdale, FL - Authorities say a security scare at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday led to the temporary evacuation of Terminal 4 after a man allegedly told officials he had a bomb in his luggage.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 35-year-old Angel Orlando Fernandez-Garcia.
Deputies said the incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. inside Terminal 4.

Out of an abundance of caution, both the upper and lower levels of the terminal were cleared while the agency’s Bomb Squad Unit responded to secure the area.
Investigators determined there was no explosive device inside the bag, and no injuries were reported.
Airport officials said the evacuation affected only the pre-security areas of the arrivals and departures levels in Terminal 4.
During the investigation, passengers scheduled to fly from that terminal were screened at Terminal 3 and then guided across a pedestrian bridge to reach their gates.
Authorities confirmed that operations at other terminals were not disrupted, and no flights were delayed or canceled due to the incident.
Terminal 4 reopened once investigators deemed the area safe.
Fernandez-Garcia was taken into custody and charged with making a false report of a bomb.
He was booked into the Broward County Jail.
Officials said the investigation remains active as law enforcement reviews the circumstances surrounding the alleged bomb threat.
