Pasco County, FL - A Pasco County firefighter has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during a road rage confrontation in Lakeland.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Dy’Sean Broome was involved in an incident on October 25th along U.S. 98 near Combee Road.

Deputies said Broome allegedly followed another vehicle for several miles before pulling alongside it and pointing a handgun at the passenger.

Law enforcement later stopped Broome’s vehicle and reported finding a 9mm pistol and an empty holster on the floorboard.

Broome was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, aggravated stalking, and improper exhibition of a firearm.

His bond was set at $10,000.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd publicly questioned why Broome remains employed with Pasco County Fire Rescue following his arrest.

The agency confirmed that Broome, hired in January 2024, is still employed as a firefighter and paramedic.

Officials said no prior disciplinary action was taken regarding a previous 2017 road rage arrest because it occurred before his employment.

Court records show Broome was arrested in 2017 after another road rage incident on U.S. 98 in which he allegedly threw a water bottle at a passing vehicle.

He later pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge.

Authorities have not confirmed whether Broome will face disciplinary action following the latest charges, and the case remains under investigation.
