Jensen Beach, FL - Authorities are investigating a large-scale theft at Treasure Coast Square Mall in Jensen Beach, where suspects allegedly cut through the mall’s concrete roof to access a Champs Sports store and steal hundreds of pairs of sneakers.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the burglary took place between midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspects allegedly cut through multiple layers of roofing, including cement board and insulation, before dropping into the store.
Once inside, they reportedly bagged hundreds of pairs of Nike and New Balance shoes, threw the boxes off the roof, and loaded them into a getaway vehicle.
Photos released by law enforcement show that multiple boxes were left behind on the roof. Investigators estimate the stolen merchandise is worth between $40,000 and $50,000.
The sheriff’s office described the theft as organized, noting that no alarms were triggered during the break-in.
Motion-sensor cameras inside the store captured images of the suspects, but the system was not connected to a live alarm.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses and are working to identify the vehicle used in the escape.
Mall management has since repaired the roof, and law enforcement is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity near the mall during the early morning hours to contact the Martin County Sheriff’s Office at 772-220-7060 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify the individuals responsible for the alleged theft.
