Two Systems Being Monitored In Atlantic

Thanks to a low pressure system off South Florida, we're all in for a soaking this weekend.

"Generally, two to three inches [of rain] across most of the metro [southeast Florida] area is expected, with a reasonable worst-case up to six inches," says National Weather Service Meteorologist George Rizzuto.

He believes the system has a low chance of developing into a named system as it moves to the northwest across the state this weekend.

"Localized urban flooding will remain a concern over the next several days especially over areas that don't drain very well... the typical areas of Brickell, downtown Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood areas," warns Rizzuto.

Monday's full moon could cause additional king tide flooding.

Forecasters are also keeping a close eye on another system in the central Atlantic that doesn't have a clear consensus on its track.

With the tropics heating up, the NWS and National Hurricane Center will not be affected by the federal government shutdown and will continue to operate 24/7.
