Triple-A Auto Club South Begins E-Bike & Scooter Safety Campaign

It's called "Safe Streets for Small Wheels" to encourage drivers and e-bike and scooter users to look out for each other, share the road and practice safe habits. Spokesman Mark Jenkins says E-bike and scooter accidents are increasing as many users disregard traffic laws while speeding. Last March, a Cooper City High Schooler died after being hit by a car while riding his scooter to campus. The Village of Key Biscayne has a permanent ban on E-bikes and scooters after two fatal accidents. A new state law that went into effect on July 1 allows for more municipalities to place a minimum age requirement on riders.
