Las Olas, FL - Two Fort Lauderdale Police officers were hospitalized after their vehicles collided early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Las Olas Boulevard while the officers were responding to a call for assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

According to Fort Lauderdale officials, one of the vehicles caught fire after the collision, while the other struck a utility pole.

Both officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews.

Photos released by fire rescue showed significant damage to both vehicles outside a convenience store.

Structural concerns at the nearby building prompted crews to install support columns to stabilize the overhang following the crash.

Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the collision is ongoing.

No further details have been released regarding the officers’ actions prior to the crash or whether any traffic violations occurred.

The incident highlights the risks faced by first responders even while carrying out routine duties.

Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue continue to examine the scene, assess the cause of the crash, and ensure public safety in the area.

Emergency personnel responded quickly to contain the fire and secure the area, minimizing further damage to the building and surrounding property.

Investigators are reviewing all available evidence, including vehicle positions and witness accounts, to determine how the collision occurred.

Officials have not identified any additional injuries or property damage beyond what has been reported.
