FLORIDA - The SoFloGO app has officially launched in South Florida, aiming to streamline public transit by integrating several local transportation systems into one easy-to-use platform.
Developed by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) in collaboration with Broward County Transit (BCT), Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW), and Palm Tran, the app combines Tri-Rail, BCT, Palm Tran, and DTPW services, including Metrorail, Metrobus, and Metromover.
SoFloGO is designed to simplify trip planning, making it easier for residents and visitors to navigate the region’s transit network.
Key features of the app include multimodal trip planning, real-time updates on vehicle arrivals, and mobile ticketing for easier fare payments.
Additionally, SoFloGO offers deboarding alerts and step-by-step directions to help riders stay on track throughout their journeys.
The app also prioritizes accessibility, providing screen reader compatibility and step-free route options for those with mobility challenges.
As South Florida’s population and tourism numbers rise, efficient and accessible transit solutions are increasingly necessary.
SoFloGO addresses this need by consolidating transit options into one convenient platform, improving travel efficiency across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
The app’s creation was supported by funding from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization, further highlighting efforts to enhance the region's transit infrastructure.
