Lauderdale Lakes, FL - Authorities in South Florida are seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual allegedly responsible for the brutal abuse of a dog discovered in Lauderdale Lakes earlier this month.
A Palm Beach County-based rescue group is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
The dog, a black female Giant Schnauzer named Bibi, was found on April 3rd in the 4500 block of NW 36th Street and brought to safety by Broward County Animal Care.
She was later transferred to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, where her injuries stunned staff and veterinarians.
Rescue officials said Bibi arrived severely emaciated and unable to walk without help. X-rays revealed multiple broken ribs, damage to her spine, and trauma to her hips.
Medical experts determined the injuries were not consistent with an accident involving a car, pointing instead to intentional abuse.
“This is one of the most horrific cases of cruelty we’ve ever witnessed,” said Lauree Simmons, founder of Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
“Bibi’s condition makes it clear this wasn’t an accident. Someone did this, and they need to be found and stopped.”
The organization has teamed up with the Broward Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.
No suspects have been publicly named, and authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
Tips can be submitted anonymously to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS or directly to Big Dog Ranch Rescue at 561-791-6465.
