A fire in a Northwest Miami-Dade scrap metal facility has grown to a third alarm.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Operations Division Chief Michael Eng says, "We're working very closely with the plant facility to try to get some of this debris removed because a lot of this fire is deep-seated."
More than three dozen units have responded to Ferrous Processing & Trading on Northwest North River Drive and 37th Avenue.
Crews are battling the flames from the ground and from ladder trucks.
Because of the heavy smoke in the area, people with breathing problems are being told to stay away.
No injuries were reported.
What sparked the fire isn't known yet.
