About 50 Environmentalists Protest At Jonathan Dickinson State Park

In addition to the protests with demonstrators saying "Hands off our Democracy," there was one in Martin County where there was a different slogan: "Hands off our parks!"

Protestors at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound tell CBS 12 News that they're pushing for the passage of a bill aimed at keeping future development out of Florida's state parks.

Some carried signs reading "Tees not Trees!" and "Save our Parks!"

Last year, there was a shortlived proposal to build golf courses at Jonathan Dickinson and other things at eight other state parks. The development included pickelball courts and a hotel.

Supporters of HB-209 say it would make sure that type of idea is not brought up again, but some say the wording needs to be stronger so developers can't find a loophole in the future.
