‘Island Boys’ Rapper Arrested In Florida On Drug And Firearm Charges

Naples, FL - A social media personality known for his viral music career is facing criminal charges following a traffic stop in Florida.

Authorities say 23-year-old Franky Venegas, one half of the rap duo Island Boys, was taken into custody Sunday night in Naples on allegations of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and possessing an altered firearm.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, the arrest followed a traffic stop around 9 p.m. near Oil Well Road and Immokalee Road.

Deputies initiated the stop after noticing a yellow Corvette allegedly failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Venegas was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle, while 25-year-old Olivia Dubois was identified as the driver.

Although the vehicle's registration initially appeared expired, authorities later confirmed its validity.

During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed, prompting deputies to ask both individuals to exit the car.

A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered a clear plastic bag on the passenger-side floorboard containing seven oxycodone pills and five additional pills that combined oxycodone with acetaminophen.

Venegas allegedly denied ownership of the pills but claimed he had a prescription, which he was unable to provide.

Further investigation led deputies to a handbag near the passenger seat, where they allegedly discovered a Glock handgun that had been spray-painted blue, with its serial number removed.

The bag also contained a clear plastic straw with white powder residue, along with credit cards in Venegas’ name.

Venegas was booked into the Naples Jail Center, facing charges related to drug possession and the unlawful alteration of a firearm.

This incident is not the rapper’s first encounter with law enforcement.

In May 2024, he was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on reckless driving charges and was accused of impersonating his twin brother, Alex Venegas, at the time of his arrest.

Venegas and his brother rose to internet fame in 2021 with their viral freestyle I’m an Island Boy, which amassed millions of views across social media platforms.

At this time, it remains unclear whether Venegas has retained legal representation.
