Collier County, FL - A large-scale street racing event on Alligator Alley led to multiple arrests and vehicle impoundments.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), on February 22nd, around 4:05 p.m., FHP troopers responded to reports of traffic congestion and a low-flying helicopter on northbound Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 51 in Collier County.

Upon arrival, they observed five dark-colored SUVs blocking the travel lanes and shoulders, with several individuals standing outside their vehicles.

A bright green Porsche GT3 911 was allegedly performing aggressive circular spins, commonly known as "donuts," creating a thick cloud of smoke and haze in the area.

As troopers approached, more than 25 high-performance vehicles reportedly sped northbound.

The bright green Porsche was later located at the Mile Marker 63 recreation area.

The passenger was arrested for allegedly participating as a passenger in a race competition.

The driver, referred to as "the camera guy," remains unidentified.

Shortly thereafter, at approximately 4:09 p.m., troopers observed a blue Porsche making an illegal U-turn at Mile Marker 65.

A traffic stop revealed the vehicle was unregistered, leading to its impoundment.

The driver was issued a misdemeanor notice to appear in court.

At around 4:19 p.m., troopers clocked a two-door 2024 blue Ferrari SF90 traveling at 148 mph in a posted 70 mph zone while allegedly racing multiple exotic vehicles on northbound I-75.

The driver was arrested for racing on the highway.

He received citations for unlawful speed and no tag attached.

The Ferrari was impounded for 30 business days.

No injuries were reported during these incidents.

The FHP continues to investigate the events surrounding this large-scale street racing occurrence.
