Broward Commissioners Expected To Take Final Vote On Landfill Expansion

A final vote expected on the expansion of the so-called "Mount Trashmore" in Broward. Mayor Beam Furr says if approved, the landfill would get wider at its base, peaking at 325 feet--about 100 feet taller than it is now. Some residents are crying foul over environmental issues and the eyesore it could create. Waste Management says the landfill only has six more years left until it hits capacity and half of that if we get hit by a strong hurricane.
