Broward County Schools To Close Due To Hurricane Milton

Broward County, FL - Broward County Public Schools has announced that schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for Hurricane Milton.

While schools will remain open on Tuesday, October 8th, district offices will close at 4 p.m., and all after-school activities, including evening classes, after-school care, and supper services, will be canceled.

The district expects to resume normal operations on Friday, October 11th.

On Twitter, Broward Schools announced "Hurricane Milton Update. Broward County Public Schools and District offices will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8. However, District offices will close at 4 p.m., and all after-school activities, including evening classes, after school care and supper services are canceled. Given the uncertainty regarding Hurricane Milton’s path and impact, Schools and District offices will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10. All before and after-school care services, activities and events are canceled on both days. The Magnet Program Expo scheduled for Thursday evening will be rescheduled. This decision was made in response to the impending threat of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to bring significant impacts to the region.

As of Monday evening, the storm is a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph.

Forecasters predict it could intensify further before making landfall on the state's west coast later this week.
