Driver Electrocuted By Downed Power Line In West Palm Beach

A man was shocked by downed power lines in West Palm Beach yesterday.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says crews responded to the area of North Military Trail and Vilma Lane in the afternoon and found the man laying in the median, on top of the wires.

Investigators say lightning hit the pole and caused the line to detach and stretch across the roadway, blocking all lanes of traffic. The sheriff's office says the victim got out of his car to remove the wire and was shocked when he grabbed it.

The man was taken to the hospital where his condition is unknown.

Fire Rescue reminds you if you come across a downed power line, don't touch them. Call 911 and remain well clear of the area.
