There's been some movement in the efforts to bring a Buc-ee's to the Treasure Coast.
The St. Lucie County Planning and Zoning Board last night approved a rezoning petition required to build a Buc-ee's along Indrio Road at I-95.
The Board also agreed to amend a code that will allow for the gas station-retail store chain to post a 100-foot tall sign just off the Interstate. That's taller than the county allows.
Planning and Zoning's recommendation now heads to the County Commission, which will be holding two hearings in September.
If approved, construction could begin in January.
It would be the fourth Buc-ee's in Florida with two in operation in St. Augustine and Daytona Beach, while a third is planned for Ocala.
