Lake County, FL - A former Orange County sheriff's deputy has been arrested for allegedly stalking a detective who investigated him for possession of child pornography.

Authorities say 40-year-old James Ruben Montiel was suspended from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and arrested on child pornography charges in May.

Following Montiel’s release on bond, he allegedly began stalking the Seminole County Sheriff's Office detective who led the investigation into the child pornography charges.

According to his arrest affidavit, Montiel used government databases to access personal information about the detective, including her home address and vehicle information.

Montiel is also accused of conducting surveillance of the detective's residence.

In addition to the stalking charges, Montiel was found in possession of prescription medication without a valid prescription during a traffic stop in Lake County.

He was taken into custody and faces potential bond revocation for the previous child pornography charges.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has terminated Montiel’s employment following the new charges.

The detective involved has been provided with a protective detail due to concerns for her safety.
