Miami, FL - A registered sex offender has been arrested after allegedly stalking a 10-year-old girl inside a Miami Home Depot earlier this month.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on July 4th at the Home Depot located at 19400 SW 106th Ave in Miami.
According to police, 60-year-old Kevin Hurley approached the girl and commented, “I love your Mickey ears, and I think you are too big to be in that shopping cart.”
The child, feeling uncomfortable, removed her Mickey ears.
Hurley then completed his transaction at an adjacent register but continued to make the child feel uneasy by saying, “I think you are so beautiful.”
Surveillance video captured Hurley pacing back and forth in a nearby aisle, watching the girl.
The girl's mother noticed Hurley's odd behavior, took a photo of him, and sought assistance from an employee to walk them to her car.
After initially trying to approach the girl from behind and being deterred, Hurley left the store but parked his car at the exit.
The girl's mother, noticing this, took a photo of Hurley’s license plate and walked to an empty parking space instead of her vehicle.
Hurley then parked at a stop sign directly in front of them until confronted by a man in a black pickup truck, at which point he fled the scene.
As part of Hurley’s probation, he is subject to GPS monitoring and cannot have unsupervised contact with minors.
Authorities located and arrested him on Tuesday on a charge of aggravated stalking of a minor.
As of Wednesday morning, Hurley remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with his bond yet to be set.
