Shooting At South Florida Mansion Leaves One Dead, Ex-Stepson Arrested

Fort Lauderdale, FL - A Fort Lauderdale man has been arrested on murder charges after he shot and killed his ex-stepfather.

According to authorities, police responded to a 911 call shortly before 11:00 a.m. Saturday at a residence on the 100 block of Nurmi Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 44-year-old Christian Colon, deceased from a gunshot wound.

Investigators arrested Colon's 23-year-old ex-stepson, Darien Massad Turner, on charges of first-degree murder.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, while the investigation is ongoing.

The incident sent shockwaves through the normally peaceful neighborhood.

"It's just surreal," said Raul Fernandez, a visitor to the area told WSVN. "This doesn't happen here. It's like something out of a movie."

Residents echoed similar sentiment, expressing disbelief at the violence on a holiday weekend.

"It's a terrible tragedy," a neighbor told the news outlet. "Everyone's here with their families, enjoying the sunshine, and then something like this happens."
