Woman Steals Ambulance From Children's Hospital, Leads Police on Chase

Lee County, FL - A Southwest Florida woman was arrested after stealing an ambulance from Golisano's Children's Hospital and leading officers on a high-speed chase.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) arrested the suspect after deputies tracked the ambulance using its GPS and located it at a RaceTrac gas station off Summerlin Road.

There, deputies confronted the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ariel Marchan-Le Quire, but she fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Marchan-Le Quire reportedly drove erratically, swerved, drifted across lanes, and nearly overturned the ambulance.

The brief pursuit ensued on U.S. Route 41 when deputies strategically disengaged, allowing the agency's aviation unit to continue tracking Marchan-Le Quire from above.

The pursuit concluded near the intersection of Island Park Road and US-41, where deputies were able to safely apprehend the suspect.

Marchan-Le Quire was arrested on charges of grand theft auto, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and theft of emergency equipment.
