Wild Summer Weather Continues as Lightning Strikes Iconic NY Buildings

Lightning struck two iconic New York skyscrapers amid the summer's violent weather.

The Empire State Building and the One World Trade center yesterday during a severe thunderstorm that rocked Manhattan.

The buildings’ lightning rods absorbed the shock of the lightning so neither the building nor the people inside were harmed.

Dramatic photos captured the wild lightning strikes which are common.

The Empire State Building’s antenna is hit by lightning 25 times per year on average and a bolt hit One World Trade Center during a thunderstorm last Thursday morning, according to Fox Weather..
