LISTEN: St Petersburg Holds Hurricane Expo Thursday

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- St. Petersburg residents have their chance to get hurricane information and basics. The city's annual hurricane preparedness expo takes place this evening.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Captain Garth Swingle says they'll have information on how to properly load sandbags and pack your storm debris for pickup.

Sandbags are a very relevant concern as the city has many low-lying areas, including Shore Acres, that have flooded as hurricanes Idalia and Ian passed in the Gulf.

The expo will also have free items including flashlights and first aid kits. It's on from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the J.W. Cate Recreation Center at 22nd Avenue North and 58th Street.
